Manjunath Desai

Manjunath Desai came to palmistry through a winding road that began in the back lanes of Dharwad, Karnataka, where his maternal uncle, a practicing jyotishi and hasta-samudrika reader, would trace the lines of pilgrims' hands after evening aarti. Manjunath spent years watching, asking, and eventually apprenticing under him informally before deepening his study through the teachings of the Bangalore-based Samudrika Shastra study circle, a small group of serious practitioners who work from classical texts alongside lived observation.

Manjunath reads hands the way a tracker reads terrain, slowly, attentively, open to what surprises him. He focuses on the interplay between the life line, fate line, and what the old texts call the "Mount of Moon," which he believes reveals a person's unconscious pull far more honestly than any spoken word.
