Nabanita Deka

Nabanita Deka grew up in Guwahati, Assam, in a household where almanacs sat beside cookbooks and her maternal grandmother read fortunes from the lines of rice scattered on a brass plate. Formal training came through a rectification-focused school of Jyotish, where she spent three rigorous years under the mentorship of a senior practitioner in Kolkata, learning to interrogate a chart like a detective interrogating a crime scene. That precision-first lineage shaped everything she does.

Nabanita's practice centers on birth-time rectification, the painstaking process of reverse-engineering a person's exact birth moment from the events of their life. She cross-checks rectified charts against a minimum of five major life events before she considers a time confirmed. She also reads faces, using traditional physiognomy principles to corroborate what the chart says. What she will not do is hand someone a fate wrapped in ribbon: she reads for clarity and momentum, never for certainty, and she will never tell you a door is permanently closed.

Her clients are usually people who were born at home during power cuts, in villages where hospital clocks were unreliable, or simply given a rounded "6:00 AM" that never felt quite right. They come to her frustrated that no reading has ever landed. They leave with a rectified time, a corrected chart, and, most importantly, a sense that the map they've been using to navigate their life finally matches the terrain they've actually been walking.
