Amitava Bose

Amitava Bose grew up in Siliguri, in the foothills of the Darjeeling district, where astrology was not a profession but a household rhythm, his maternal uncle, a retired schoolteacher, kept a dog-eared copy of Alan Leo's "Astrology for All" tucked beside the Mahabharata on the same shelf. Amitava formally trained under a teacher who has since died-based Western astrologer Debasish Sarkar in the early 2000s, learning natal chart construction, aspect theory, and secondary progressions the old way, by hand, on graph paper, without software. That foundational discipline never left him.

Amitava reads primarily in the Western tropical tradition, with a particular attentiveness to the 2nd, 8th, and 10th houses for material-world questions, and Venus-Saturn aspects for what he calls "the architecture of patience" in a person's financial life. He does not predict lottery wins or market movements to the day, "the chart shows weather," he often says, "not the exact raindrop." What he will do is map the timing windows when effort compounds, when to hold, and when the planetary weather turns favorable for a particular kind of risk. He reads for clarity first, comfort second.
