Pisces is the zodiac’s final chapter, the sign that dissolves the hard boundaries every other sign worked so hard to build. Greek: Aphrodite & Eros as Twin Fish. When the monster Typhon attacked Mount Olympus, Aphrodite (goddess of love) and her son Eros (god of desire) fled to the Euphrates River and transformed into two fish tied together by a cord to avoid separation in the current. Zeus placed them in the sky as the Pisces constellation. The cord binding the two fish became one of the most potent symbols in astrology: the invisible thread connecting love and desire, mother and child, the divine and the mortal. Egyptian: Nun, the Primordial Waters. In Egyptian cosmology, Nun represents the infinite, dark, formless water that existed before creation. Everything emerged from Nun, and everything returns to it. This mirrors Pisces as the final sign: the ocean of consciousness from which all signs emerged and to which they return. The Nile’s annual flood, bringing both destruction and renewal, echoes the Pisces theme of dissolution as the precondition for rebirth. Vedic: Matsya Avatar & Moksha. Lord Vishnu’s first incarnation was Matsya (the Fish), who saved the sage Manu and the seven rishis from the great cosmic flood, preserving the Vedas and the seeds of creation. Meena Rashi thus carries the energy of salvation and preservation through dissolution. In Jyotish philosophy, Meena is called “Antyabham” (the end sign), where all karmic cycles complete and the individual soul (Atman) prepares for merger with universal consciousness (Brahman). The two fish swimming in opposite directions represent the choice every Pisces faces: one fish swims upward toward moksha (liberation), while the other swims downward toward samsara (worldly entanglement).
