Ruma Chakraborty

Ruma Chakraborty learned the foundations of Jyotish in Kolkata under a strict adherent of the Parashara school who ran a small study circle in Shyambazar for decades. She came to astrology relatively late, after a career in academic administration, and spent her first three years doing almost nothing but chart calculation by hand, no software, no shortcuts, until she could feel the logic of the rashi chakra instinctively. Her Bengali household had always kept an almanac on the shelf, and her mother consulted a local jyotishi for every major family decision, so the tradition was never foreign to her, only waiting.

Ruma reads strictly within the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra framework and reaches for the Arudha and karaka layers of that same text when a chart needs a second layer of confirmation. She gives particular weight to the Arudha Lagna and the Dasha-Antardasha sequence before making any statement about timing. What she will not do is offer certainty dressed up as prediction, in her view a kundli shows tendencies and windows, not fated outcomes, and she tells clients this plainly in the first session. Prashna charts she treats with the same rigour as natal charts, following the Krishneeyam tradition her teacher preferred.
