Vaishali Karnik

Vaishali Karnik was born and raised in Pune, in a household where the Panchang was consulted before every significant event. Her grandmother, a deeply learned woman who corresponded with a circle of classical scholars, first placed an ephemeris in her hands at the age of twelve. Vaishali formally studied at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mumbai under a senior Parashari teacher, grounding herself in the Parashari tradition with an emphasis on the sidereal zodiac as it has been calculated and used in Maharashtra for centuries. She has never seen any reason to deviate from that foundation.
