Sharmistha Sen

Sharmistha Sen was born and raised in the heart of North Kolkata, in a joint family where her maternal grandmother kept an almanac beside the kitchen gods and read the Panchang every morning before sunrise. She began her formal training at twenty-nine under Pandit Biswanath Chakravorty of Shyambazar, a respected Jyotishi who had studied in the Parashari tradition for over four decades. She later deepened her understanding through the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Jyotisha programme, where she learned to read the chart as a living family tree, not just a wheel of planets.

Sharmistha reads charts the way a Bengali mother makes dal — slowly, with attention to every layer, never rushing the flame. Her focus is the 4th, 7th, and 12th houses, which she calls the house of roots, the house of partnership, and the house of letting go. She believes that most family pain is written in the chart long before it appears at the doorstep, and her job is to name it gently before it becomes a wound. She will not predict divorce as a certainty, and she will not give timelines for death. What she will do is help you understand why certain patterns repeat across generations.

Sharmistha's clients are mostly women — daughters-in-law adjusting to new homes, mothers worried about their children's marriages, couples trying to find their footing after a loss. She also reads for men who come quietly, carrying questions they are too proud to ask out loud.
