Alka Desai

Alka Desai grew up in a joint family in Ahmedabad's old city, where her grandfather, a retired civil engineer with a lifelong obsession with directional alignment, would walk through every new house before the family moved in, compass in hand. She studied under a senior consultant at a Vastu sansthan in Vadodara, completing a formal three-year certification in classical Vastu Shastra before apprenticing with a senior consultant who handled commercial projects across Gujarat. That combination of traditional lineage and hands-on site work is what shaped how she reads spaces today.

Alka's approach is systematic but never rigid. She starts with the entrance, the kitchen quadrant, and the master bedroom before anything else, because she believes those three zones carry seventy percent of a home's energetic signature. She cross-references Vastu findings with the birth charts of the primary residents, particularly the ascendant and Moon sign, to understand why a space is affecting a person the way it is. She won't promise that moving a mirror will fix your marriage, and she's honest when a structural issue is beyond remediation without renovation. Her philosophy: clarity over comfort, and practical fixes over expensive rituals.

Most of Alka's clients come to her with two recurring problems, stagnant finances in an otherwise successful business, or relationship tension that seems to follow them from flat to flat. She does on-site visits across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and remote consultations over video using floor plan photographs. People walk away with a prioritized checklist, not an overwhelming list of dos and don'ts. She also works with couples navigating love marriages, looking at compatibility and the home environment together as one integrated picture.
